This Privacy Policy describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit workshopmag.com (Workshop Magazine/Indigo Joy), and when you sign up to become a member.

We take your privacy seriously. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

The website

This website (workshopmag.com) is hosted by Ghost and runs on the Ghost content management system. Ghost’s servers are located in The Netherlands and their systems are GDPR compliant. You can find the details on this in their GDPR documentation.

Membership

This website offers both free and paid membership accounts. The membership system is also run by Ghost.

If you register on the site, information you give us (specifically, your name and email address) can be accessed by Workshop staff members through the Ghost content management system. (Note that this does not include credit card numbers, billing addresses or any other financial information; see below under Purchases.)

This information is used by us only for purposes of communicating with members and analyzing membership data (for instance, counting the total number of paid members and tracking newsletter opens and clicks). We do not share members’ personal information with any third parties.

You may edit or cancel your membership at any time. To do so, visit your account page. If desired, you may also contact us to ensure your personal information is removed from our membership database.

Email

When you sign up to be a Workshop member (either free or paid), you are sharing your name and email address with us, and consenting to receive our email newsletters. Email newsletters are sent via the Ghost email platform.

All email newsletters include an unsubscribe link, and you may unsubscribe at any time while remaining a member.

In addition to email newsletters, we may email you directly from time to time for reasons related to your membership account.

If you have unsubscribed and wish to resubscribe, or you have questions about your subscription status, please contact us for assistance.

Purchases

If you choose to sign up as a paid Workshop member, you will be directed to a payment processing page administered by Stripe. You can read their privacy policy to learn more about how Stripe handles payment data.

Through Stripe’s admin system, Workshop staff can view a list of members, payment dates and other events. Information we have access to includes your name and email address, your billing country and postal code, your credit card type/issuer (e.g., RBC Visa), the last four digits of your credit card number, your credit card’s expiry date, and whether the payment passed confirmation of CVC number and postal code. We do not have access to full credit card numbers or to CVC numbers.

Forms

We use forms in certain situations to collect information. Use of these forms is entirely optional.

Our contact form functions via Formspree. After a user fills out the form and submits, Formspree sends us the form information via email. Messages are also saved on Formspree servers; we can view them by logging in under our account.

We also use embedded Airtable forms in some cases to collect information for our internal editorial use; for example, via our member survey or submissions to our makers database. Information submitted is stored on Airtable servers and can be viewed by Workshop team members when we log in to our Airtable account.

If for any reason you don't wish to submit information via these forms, simply email us directly at hello@workshopmag.com.

In order to earn revenue from the website, we may use affliate links on certain product links. For instance, if we mention a certain widget, we might link to that widget's website with a link that tracks clicks so that the widget-seller can pay us a commission on any sales at no extra cost to our readers. Generally, this works through browser cookies, which will often track you for a certain length of time so that, for example, we might get a commission even if you purchase the widget three weeks after first clicking the link.

We do not have access to these cookies or the ability to see who clicked on what. To avoid these affiliate links, you can simply not click on external links (you might choose to go to the product website through a search engine instead), or clear cookies from your browser.
