While sales are the primary route to making money so that you can grow your business and artistic practice, grant funding offers another opportunity to pay for your creative endeavours. But how do you get it?

That was the topic of conversation at our October 25 event, copresented by Craft Ontario. Ceramicists Naomi Clement and Heidi McKenzie — both of whom have earned many grants in their careers — shared lots of helpful tips on how to tap into this kind of funding.

And if you think you're not ready to apply to grants, heed Naomi's advice: "You just need to try." She suggests making applying to grants a regular practice, because the more you do it, the easier it gets.
